Dirty Yards Tops List Of Complaints

The City of Windsor has released its list of complaints to the 311 Call Centre, and dirty yards tops the list.

There were 2,133 calls between the beginning of April and the end of June about excessively tall grass and weeds, or debris in yards. Those calls increased by 249 over the same period last year.

"The mild winter has likely been a factor in the increase in calls," says By-Law Enforcement Manager Bill Tetler. "We appreciate residents calling 311, so we can investigate and do what's needed to keep our city looking great."

Tree maintenance calls were down but still came in number two. There were 1,441 complaints to 311, a drop of 136 from the second quarter of 2016.

Next on the list was calls requesting a collection calendar. A total of 995 people called to get a new one.

Rodents accounted for the fourth highest number of calls at 813, while potholes prompted 521 complaints.

Rounding out the top ten are complaints about garbage that was not collected, the condition of buildings, requests for information, calls about Transit Windsor, and questions about property taxes.
