Windsor Pride Finds Temporary New Home

The struggle for new accommodations is finally over for Windsor Pride.

It was announced Friday evening that the Windsor Pride Community Centre will be moving from the Pelissier St. parking garage, up to 1106 Ouellette Ave. by July 3.

Windsor Pride says the new temporary location will allow the organization to remain downtown, where they are easily accessible to their client base.

Back in November of 2016, Windsor City Council made the decision to revert the Pelissier St. location back to parking spaces, and tenants were told they had six months to vacate. The last time Windsor Pride was before city council, the organization was granted a lease extension to June 30, 2017.

Windsor Pride made the decision to move to the new location after Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare (HDGH) leadership and community partners made the suggestion.  HDGH currently owns the building.

"Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare and Windsor Pride Community Centre share many of the same values placing community first and ensuring timely and convenient access to programs and services," says HDGH Board Chair Shari Cunningham, in a news release.

The organization says its programs will continue during the transition, but the locations may change.  To check for changes, click here.
