Normal temperatures, normal rainfall, a normal summer -- that is the gist of Environment Canada's outlook for summer in southwestern Ontario.
In fact, the federal agency's forecast does not differ much from the outlook released by the Weather Network in May, except for maybe one point.
"They were saying the weather could be a little wetter than normal," says Meteorologist Geoff Coulson. "Aside from this wet start to the month of June, we're not necessarily seeing the same trend for July and August."
Where the two agencies agree is on the point the region will get relatively normal temperatures.
"But, by saying that it certainly doesn't mean that we still couldn't get heat waves," says Coulson echoing his colleague at the Weather Network, Nadine Powell.
"We're not really seeing any strong signals in any direction. I've looked at a number of different weather models here in Canada and in the United States," says Coulson. "At this point in time, the forecast for both July and August is to have temperatures around long-term seasonal values and to have precipitation in the same way as well."
