UPDATE: New Tentative Deal At Flex-N-Gate

A new tentative agreement will be voted upon Sunday morning, following Friday's rejection and strike at Flex-N-Gate in Lakeshore.

Gerry Farnham, Unifor Local 195 president, says the employer called them Friday night in an attempt to reach a settlement to the tentative agreement put forward. The agreement was rejected and members immediately went on strike.

However, the meeting did provided an opportunity for the employer and union to discuss details on a new agreement.

"We were able to bring the concerns that we heard at that meeting to the employers," says Farnham. "We believe that the employer has addressed the issues that were of concern to the membership, therefore, we believe that we have a new tentative agreement in place."

Farnham says details as to what workers are looking for with the new agreement will not be released at this time.

A meeting with the membership will be held on Sunday at 10am to vote on the new tentative package. Until an agreement is reached, Farnham says about 200 workers will remain on strike.
