UPDATE: Leamington Teen Mourned After Tragic Accident

The aunt of an 18-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle at a crosswalk near Highbury Canco on Monday, says her nephew has died.

Martina Roach says her nephew; Morgan Harder passed away Wednesday afternoon. She says he is survived by a 16-year-old sister and an 8-year-old brother, his parents and his stepfather.

Roach says the family has decided to donate his organs.

"We're all very much in shock still, but we're also very proud of Morgan because he has given his gift of life to four families," she says.

Harder would have turned 19 on May 29.

The Ontario Provincial Police confirmed the death Thursday morning in a release, which read "the investigation is continuing, but no charges are anticipated at this time."

"We're not angry. It was an accident," says Roach. "He had a good life."

Funeral arrangements are still being made, but Roach says the service will be in Leamington.

She also says the family is holding a pasta dinner fundraiser to help with the costs of the funeral. That will be at the Lebanese Club in Leamington next Thursday, May 25 at 6pm. Tickets are $10 and $15 at the door.

Harder was also known for his involvement in remote control car racing at Colasantis Tropical Gardens.

"He lived, sleeped, breathed racing his remote control cars down at Colasanti's with his organization," says Roach, describing her nephew as a jokester who never smoked or drank and took care of his family.

S.P.A.R.C. R/C Racing expressed its condolences on its Facebook page.

"This is a hard post to have to make. [But] it is with terrible sadness that we must mourn the loss of Morgan Harder. Morgan has just started racing at our club, and though it may have only been for a brief period, he was still a special racer to the track. Always learning and asking questions and wanting to help out in any way he could. And in doing so became the 2016 SPARC Novice Champion. He was looking forward to the 2017 season and was really excited to get racing. To honour his memory, we will be renaming the Novice class Championship to the Morgan Harder Memorial Trophy."

The organization holds its first race of the season on May 28.
