A new out-patient renal dialysis clinic is about to open in Windsor.
The $8-million facility is set to open May 8 next to Windsor Regional Hospital's Ouellette Campus on the Goyeau St. side.
Regional Vice-President Monica Staley-Liang says it'll have 30 bays with more space in 1.5 floors. She says the new renal dialysis clinic is state of the art.
"Our dialysis patients are like our family because they spend so much time with us, usually three days a week for four to six hours a day. So, it's really important we're able to provide them with the safe care they need," says Staley-Liang.
Some out-patients will continue going to the Jean Mance Building in Windsor and the satellite at Leamington Hospital.
In-patients who need dialysis will continue using the seventh floor at the Ouellette Campus.
The McDougall St. satellite location will close.
She says it's a beautiful and bright space.
"Currently because of our old buildings and such, it's very cramped, it's dark, there's not a lot of room for privacy or for families to sit," says Staley-Liang.
She says eventually the renal dialysis will expand to three floors.
"This is our first stage of this project and of course there's always growth and there's room for growth but currently it will meet our needs in Erie-St. Clair," Staley-Liang says.
