January Gets Housing Sales Off To A Good Start

If housing sales in Windsor-Essex last month are any indication, home buyers and sellers could be in for another wild year.

Sales in January jumped 12% from January 2016 according to the Windsor-Essex County Realtors Association. Sold signs went up on 364 properties compared to 325 in the same month last year.

Listings are up too. The association reports a 15.5% increase from last January. Right now, there are 587 properties on the market.

Buyers will have to fork out more for a new house. The average price climbed to $219,083, up 6.37% month over month.

Last year, was marked by an aggressive sales market where multiple offers on a single home were the norm and many sold for tens of thousands over the asking price.

Central and Downtown Windsor had the most properties sold with 45.5% of Windsor's total, while in the county Lakeshore had 40% of the sales.
