Ford Employees Make Huge Donation To United Way

The United Way Windsor Essex has received a huge boost to their 2016 campaign goal with a $560,000 donation from Ford Windsor.

The members and retirees at UNIFOR Locals 200 and 240 beat last year's total by around $1,000.

Ford Windsor Operations Site Manager Tony Savoni says he is very proud of the employee's continued generosity.

"When there's a requirement out in the community, they're the first, they're the go to group and it just continues to show year after year their commitment to the community," says Savoni.

United Way Windsor Essex CEO Lorraine Goddard says Ford's donation will go directly to helping around 8,000 people in the community.

"Our success is really measured by the people we help and the impact we make on this community and that's what we're really focussed on here," says Goddard.

This donation brings the United Way campaign up to $4.8-million raised. They hope to raise $5.3-million by the time the campaign wraps up in March.
