Spitfires Score Shootout Win Over Rangers

The Windsor Spitfires beat the Kitchener Rangers 3-2 in a shootout Thursday night at the WFCU Centre.

After a scoreless first period, the Rangers were first on the board with a goal 6:32 into the second, which Windsor followed with two goals by Logan Stanley and Aaron Luchuk. The Spitfires' 2-1 lead lasted into the third period until Kitchener scored tying goal with less than two minutes left in regular play.

After no scoring in overtime, Gabriel Vilardi scored the only goal in the shootout on Rangers goaltender Luke Opilka to win it for Windsor.

Despite the loss, Kitchener outshot Windsor 38-20.

The Spitfires head to Sarnia on Friday to take on the Sting at 7:05pm.
