A new acute care facility may still be more then ten years in the future but stakeholders want to establish a vision for what health research will look like in the new system.
Researchers from the University of Windsor, St. Clair College, the LHIN and Windsor Regional Hospital met for the first time to discuss the opportunities and challenges in the region.
Michael Siu with the University of Windsor says they can't wait for the new hospital to create a regional approach to research.
"As we work together we appreciate one another's strengths and also we realize what kind of areas are important to the region and ourselves," says Siu. "People in different areas can start working together so we can actually tackle problems from a holistic and integrated fashion."
The focus of the meeting was to establish a roadmap of how to develop a research centre of excellence now and in the future.
