Kingsville Family Wants To Honour Unsung Heroes

A Kingsville family is paying it forward this holiday season by honouring the unsung heroes who make the community a better place.

Deanne Diab created a post on Spotted in Kingsville's Facebook page asking for nominees, and so far the list includes a couple of crossing guards and a cab driver.

"There's no strings attached. There are no criteria," says Diab. "We just kinda thought it would just grow organically. We'll just see where it goes."

Diab says her family usually donates a frozen turkey, but they wanted to do something a little different this Christmas.

"How be we do pay it forward turkeys, much like people do in the Tim Horton's line," she says. "It's exciting to get a coffee when somebody pays for it. It's thrilling. It makes you feel good. It really encourages you to pay it forward."

Since creating the post on December 3, Diab says other families have approached her about getting involved too.

She says they'll continue to take nominees until December 18, and then chose winners randomly. The turkeys could be delivered by December 20.

Freshco in Kingsville has been asked to store the turkeys until the giveaway.
