Hospice Face To Face Campaign Successful

The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County's annual Face to Face Campaign has surpassed its goal by almost $20,000.

The campaign runs from August 15 to September 30 and has a $65,000 goal each year. They concluded the 14th annual campaign with a total of $84,239.90 raised.

Face to Face supported the Hospice's Fairley Family Transportation Program again this year, which provides more than 6,500 rides to patients and their caregivers, bringing them to medical appointments, treatments, or to the Hospice Wellness Centre for programs.

Founder John Fairley was happy with the funds raised this year.

"I can sleep soundly tonight," says Fairley. "This year was another great year for Face to Face and The Hospice."

The transportation program has 52 volunteer drivers, and rides cost almost $10 each way. This year, a portion of the funds from the campaign total will help to purchase a van.

"The van that will be replaced has been used since 2002," says executive director Carol Derbyshire. "We've used it for as long as possible, but we're working with our friends at Unifor Local 444 to find a way to replace it with a new minivan."
