Environment Canada has lifted a severe thunderstorm watch that had been in effect for much of southwestern Ontario, including London-Middlesex, Oxford, Elgin, Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.
The weather agency had said conditions were ripe for the development of severe storms that can produce heavy rain and damaging wind gusts. The storms were expected to develop late Tuesday morning and last into the afternoon. However, the storms never materialized.
The severe thunderstorm watch was issued as Environment Canada lifted a special weather statement that has been in effect for the region. It warned of significant rainfall amounts across southwestern Ontario.
