City Cleaning Up Pokemess

Pokemon GO players are being asked to respect City of Windsor parks.

Manager of Parks Operations Yvan Mantha says there have been multiple reports of cars jumping curbs and driving on grass, especially during evenings at Jackson Park.

"One of our biggest issues is the safety of people using the parks when these people are parking all over it," he explains. "Because kids aren't looking for vehicles in parks, right? They think a park is an open space for them to play in."

Mantha says the sudden up-tick in park usage has also lead to a lot more garbage being found in the grass. He adds that's less of a concern however, because the city sees it as a good thing that more people are at the parks, and the parks department has the staff to deal with clean up right now.

Mantha says the garbage issue could become a problem if the Pokemon phenomenon continues into the fall when the city has no student staff.

Video of a mess left at Jackson Park was posted to the Pokemon GO Windsor, Ontario Facebook page.
