Hatfield Proposes Memorial Military Plates

MPP Percy Hatfield is looking to implement a new way for the province to honour the families of people who died during military action for Canada.

He's asked the Ministry of Transportation to introduce a commemorative license plate to be given to one member of the fallen soldier's family as a symbol of the sacrifice they made.

"The purpose behind the plate is just to show recognition for the sacrifice that this family has made, one member has been killed in battle," says Hatfield.

Hatfield says it could give others a chance to show their appreciation as well.

"It would give us, the rest of us, if we ever saw someone with that plate and we're parking along side them to get out of the car and say thank you for your service," says Hatfield.

The province of Saskatchewan already offers "silver cross plate" to honour these families.
