LaSalle council is moving forward with a transit study after hearing most people in the town are interested in the service.
Steer Davies Gleave reported to council that 65% of those surveyed were in favour of transit while 32% were opposed. The remaining 3% declined the survey.
Principal Consultant Matthew Lee says there was even higher interest among certain groups in the town.
"Particularly among women the support is even higher at 70%," says Lee. "Housesholds earning less than $100,000 a year also experienced a higher level of support."

Families with children and housesholds under 35 years old also showed high support for transit according to the report.
Those opposed to transit service don't want to pay more in tax and don't feel the service is warranted.
"The general sentiment is that, 'We don't need transit,'" says Lee. "In most cases there is a large amount of the households who have one, two or even three vehicles."
Lee says results are based on phone surveys of 417 people as well as stakeholder interviews and a public open house.
The second phase of the study will look at options to implement transit service in the town and how to pay for it.
