Assumption Among Fastest Improved

Assumption College Catholic High School is among the fastest improving secondary schools in the province in the Fraser Institute school report cards.

The Fraser Institute calculates school rankings based on provincial literacy and math test scores.

In the last five years Assumption has improved from a 4.1 (out of ten) to a 7.1 school rating. This places Assumption among the top 10 fastest improvers in the province.

Author of the report Peter Cowley says other schools should use this as a call to action and use Assumption as an example of how to improve.

'They should be looking at how they can perhaps do some of the things that those more successful schools have done to ensure that improvement becomes even more frequent in the area," says Cowley.

Other schools in the area that showed improvement are Vincent Massey, General Amherst, W. F. Herman and Cardinal Carter. Vincent Massey Secondary School is ranked highest of area schools sitting at 42 out of 676 schools.

All other schools in the area showed no statistically significant changes either positively or negatively.
