After 20 games away from the Windsor Express bench, Bill Jones will make his return as head coach tonight against London.
The NBLC has permitted Jones' return after a recent appeal. They cite the original suspension being too severe, as well as Jones' impact on the franchise as reasons for the change of heart.
Jones says he's just glad to be back doing what he loves.
"Basketball is my passion," says Jones. "To be able to coach, inspire and mentor young men is something I believe I was put on this earth to do. I'm glad to have that opportunity again."
The three-year NBL coach was initially suspended after an incident before Game 7 of the 2015 NBLC Finals between the Express and the Halifax Rainmen.
Jones explains he's ready to move past that incident and look forward to the second half of the season.
"You have to be accountable for your actions, and I did play a role in what happened," he says. "I did everything the league required me to do, I held my other title and just hoped this day would come."
Jones also commended his brother Tony for heading up the coaching staff during his suspension. Jones will lead his 10-10 Express squad when they take on the London Lightning Saturday at 7:30pm.
