West Windsor Home Demolition Denied

The International Bridge Company's efforts to demolish homes in west Windsor to make way for a planned second span of the Ambassador Bridge is meeting council resistance again.

Company spokesperson Stan Korosec was looking for approval to tear down the vacant home at 446 Indian Rd., but council didn't approve.

"I understand their position with the legal action going forward, but I just want to make it clear there is a safety issue here; not to the people walking down the street, but obviously these homes are being entered. I just don't want to see anybody getting hurt," says Korosec.

The company isn't shying away from its goal of getting a second span built.

"We just want to make the point: we're trying to demolish these homes," says Korosec. "At some point they're going to have to come down anyway."

Administration's report to council advised against granting the demolition, calling it premature to make changes to the property in light of pending litigation before the Supreme Court of Canada.
