Wildeman's Annual Address

As enrollment at the University of Windsor continues to decline, President Alan Wildeman is focusing on creating a university that is adaptable to a constantly disruptive world.

"The world is more discontinuous, there's a lot more choices, a lot more forks in the road and we need to let the university be a place that gives the students a new kind of tool kit to work with," says Wildeman.

There are currently 10,885 full-time undergraduate students enrolled at the University, the lowest number since the 2002/2003 academic year. Applications to the University of Windsor for 2016 have steadied after many years of decline.

As part of his annual address Wildeman announced they will be reassessing the budget model and will allocate tuition revenue to faculties based on enrollment.

"We will be looking at where the enrollment is and at the same time we need to be looking at mechanisms to keep the university comprehensive," says Wildeman.

The new budget will be finalized in May.

Wildeman also announced they are in the process of filling 18 of the 50 faculty positions announced in last year's address. Over 600 people applied for the positions. The university is looking to fill all 50 positions within the next three years.
