Strategic Plan Could Bring Image Makeover

The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board could have a new logo and motto in the new year.

The board of trustees approved a three-year strategic plan at its meeting this week which provides the board with a guideline to manage its $20-million reserve and new programs like the Hockey Canada Skills Academy at Corpus Christie and F.J.Brennan High School.

As for the makeover, board chair Barb Holland says the board has had the same logo and motto for many years. During that time, the board has undergone some financial, and political challenges and trustees want something that better reflects what the organization is now.

She says it's not an attempt to distance the board from its past.

"That history is part of who we are," says Holland. "We look back at that history, and it illustrates very clearly how we were able to come through a very difficult situation with tremendous success."

Holland says the administration will spend the next month fleshing out the plan, and it'll come back to trustees at the end of January. She says the board will then work to implement it as quickly as possible.
