Pumping Station Upgrades Coming

Upgrades to Pumping Station No. 2 in Amherstburg will give the town new opportunity for expansion.

The $4.5 million project is the first step to remove the Edgewater Lagoons in the north side of the town.

CAO John Miceli says the upgrades will allow the Amherstburg Waste Water Treatment Plant to run at full capacity. "We've got all kinds of developers that want to add more capacity to the town and service more lots. We just can't do it, we don't have the capacity right now to do that and this is a positive step in that direction," says Miceli. Around $3-million of the project will be funded through a Small Communities Fund grant. The rest will come from rate payers and development charges.
