Spits Beat Sting To Snap Losing Streak

Left winger Brendan Lemieux led the Windsor Spitfires to a 3-0 shutout victory over the Sarnia Sting on Friday.

After no scoring in the first two periods, Lemieux scored a hat-trick in the third to blank the Sting.  Windsor goalie Michael DiPietro was able to make 29 saves during the game for his first OHL shutout game.

The victory gave the Spits their first win after losing the last five in a row.

"Our guys came through tonight, they scored timely goals against a great goaltender," says Spits head coach Rocky Thompson. "We were fortunate we had a great goaltender in our net tonight as well. And that's what we needed to get off this [losing streak], we needed our goalie to help us win a game."

The Spitfires will return to the ice on Sunday to take on the Kitchener Rangers at 2pm.
