Traffic Top Concern At Ward Meeting

Not surprisingly, traffic on Dominion Blvd. rates as the top concern of those who attended a meeting for Ward 10 residents.

Traffic are a recurring theme in ward meetings across Windsor.

"Northwood and Dominion, especially," says Ward 10 Councillor Paul Borrelli. "You have the three schools... in the morning and in the late afternoon, this becomes a very highly congested area. It's just a challenge for everybody."

The corridor is already part of the so-called "Central Box" study.

Stantec Consulting is studying traffic patterns along Dominion, Howard Ave., Dougall Ave., West Grand Blvd., and Eugenie St. City Council expects the report, complete with suggested solutions, by the end of the year.

Following that report, the council plans to hold a public meeting to gauge reaction to its recommendations.

"If that's the case then we'll probably have the meeting in January," says Borelli.

At a 20-year strategic plan meeting, held the same night, Borrelli says some residents suggest the city needs to improve Windsor's image globally. He says it could help encourage investment and economic diversity.
