University Cuts Food Services Jobs

The University of Windsor has plans to cut 42 part-time food services jobs for the upcoming school year.

The losses are linked to four coffee shops on campus that may or may not close come September.

University spokesperson John Coleman says it's common practice for the school to review staffing levels for food services each year. "There's always the goal of running operations efficiently and at the same time meeting the needs of the campus community and that's what this process is about," says Coleman.

Coleman calls the cuts "42 fewer job postings" and says the process is not finished, so it may be more or less.

He couldn't provide how much the university will be saving with fewer food services jobs.

The four affected coffeehouses are in the Toldo building, Leddy Library, Alumni Hall and the engineering building.
