Nature Fresh Committing To Leamington

A new sewage treatment system being installed by Nature Fresh to service its greenhouses is a good sign for Leamington.

Mayor John Paterson says despite the company's move to invest $200-million by 2022 in Ohio, the investment in his town shows Nature Fresh isn't pulling up stakes.

"When they're installing this kind of investment, and I know there's expansions included in the operations out there, yeah they're here for the long-haul," says Paterson.

More greenhouses are planned for the property with Phase 1 development ongoing before Phase 2 kicks in.

"I think most of the major guys are doing the same thing somewhere in the states," says Paterson, commenting on Nature Fresh's investment in Ohio. "They're making their access to the American market that much easier for themselves too."

The new treatment system is to be about 1,300 sq ft and isn't expected to create odour problems. The system will be located at the Nature Fresh property between Mersea Rd. 10 and County Rd. 14 near Hwy. 77 in Leamington.
