Flood Issues Continue In Essex

Residents in Essex are once again fed up with flooding after the region was pummeled with rain over the weekend.

Rick Howson lives on Iler Ave. and says there are major flooding issues in his neighbourhood. "The water was going so slow, the storm sewer overflowed and the water didn't go away. It just stayed there," Howson says. "Why isn't the water leaving our street?"

Karl Grymonprez also lives on Iler Ave. "We've never had water issues in this town like we do the past year," he says. "For me to babysit a sump pump for nine hours that fills in 30 seconds, there is something wrong."

Council voted to send Ward 1 residents a memo outlining what the town is doing to address flooding within in the sanitary system. As one initiative, the town will be using cameras to help investigate how the system handles heavy rainfall in certain areas.
