New Tecumseh Chiefs Get Ready

The Tecumseh Chiefs plan to release their official marketing plan next week, but Tecumseh town council has had a sneak peak and Mayor Gary McNamara is impressed.

"We're 100% behind you guys," he told team officials as they presented logos for the new Chiefs and its plans to raise funds. "It was really sad to see our Chiefs leave in 2008 when we actually were Sutherland Cup Champions and the next day we found out the franchise was moving."

Owner Glen Quenneville says they'll raise money to support the team, and help the community. "We're going to give community groups an opportunity to fundraise for themselves. We're going to give $5 for every adult, $3 for every child."

Home games will be played every Wednesday at 7:30pm at Tecumseh Arena. Packages will include an exclusive "Builders Club." That will give recipients three years of season tickets, the opportunity to be a guest at the team's players awards banquet and jackets.

The Ontario Hockey Association gave the team ownership approval last month.
