Fur Protested In Downtown Windsor

A group of local protesters intend to descend upon downtown Windsor as part of an anti-fur demonstration.

On Saturday at noon, the group of around 25 people will be positioning themselves outside of Lazares Furs at 493 Ouellette Ave. in Windsor.

Windsor resident Jayme Lauzon is one of the protesters and says the intention of the protest is to raise awareness.

"This protest if not meant to attack a local business specifically, but we can't support an industry that profits off the suffering of animals," says Lauzon. "What we're trying to accomplish is to just raise awareness and educate our community, (and) to be a voice for the voiceless."

Lauzon says the protesters will hold signs and hand out information pamphlets provided by PETA and Fur-Bearer Defenders.
