Spitfires Remember Captain Mickey Renaud

It's Mickey Renaud Night at the WFCU Centre tonight when the Windsor Spitfires take on the Plymouth Whalers.

Renaud was the captain of the Spitfires when he died suddenly of a heart defect in 2008. He was 18 years old, and head coach Bob Boughner says he's never far from the team's thoughts. "We have some things in the dressing room, memories of Mickey and our trophy case," he says. "Upstairs, of course, there's a shrine of his stall."

It's also the last time the Spitfires will play the Whalers at home before they move to Flint, Michigan. "The great thing that was in Plymouth we used to have a ton of support from Windsor people," says Boughner. "Half the time, when we were in Plymouth, it felt like a home game."

The Spitfires are two points out of a playoff spot.
