A mother, her two children and three firefighters are recovering after flames ripped through a mobile home in south Windsor.
The woman is in the intensive care unit at the hospital after suffering smoke inhalation. The children also suffered smoke inhalation and first degree burns, but have since been released from hospital. A firefighter also suffered heat exposure while a second slipped and fell, and a third was exposed to the heat.
Firefighters arrived at the home on Marlin Ct. off Division Rd. around 2:45am Tuesday. Deputy Fire Chief Brian McLaughlin says the fire spread quickly, and three occupants were pulled to safety through a window. "The mother was in her bedroom, had left her bedroom and joined the children in their bedroom and were huddled when firefighters arrived."
Damage is extensive, and an investigator from the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal is expected on the scene later in the day.
