Catholic Board Looking To Future

Windsor and Essex County's Catholic School Board thinks the key to its success will be setting short-term goals.

Director Paul Picard will be appointing trustees and superintendents to a committee this year, which will come up with a three-year collective vision for the board.

After suffering through two years of provincial supervision due to poor finances, Picard is seeing student achievement on the rise, balanced books, and doesn't want to look back. "We can compete with any (school board) anywhere. And we're attempting to show that, tangibly, by really engendering a change that is significant here."

Picard says most organizations will come up with a strategic plan for five or ten years, but he believes a three-year scope allows the board to better deal with an "ever-changing world."
