Water World Thrown A Lifeline

Windsor Water World will remain open for another six months.

City council will re-visit the issue of potentially closing the facility in June, at which time it's expecting to hear reports on alternative sites for community programs, and more on recent attendance figures.

United Way Windsor-Essex CAO Lorraine Goddard thinks the city's currently seeing low numbers of people using Water World because there's a lack of engagement with the residents. "If you have a disenfranchised community, you're right, they're not engaged in their community. But with the work that has been happening in that neighbourhood, and with the plans that have been presented to United Way, we feel that the neighbourhood is going to rally."

Goddard says council's decision unfortunately leaves the community with more uncertainty surrounding the future of the building.
