As Windsor auto parts manufacturer Nemak leaps into the global market, the company's technical manager says they need to fill dozens of new positions.
Glenn Byczynski says the west Windsor auto part manufacturing plant is doubling its capacity with a second line. "We are highly automated. We have over 100 robots in the facility, a lot of controls. It's a high-tech environment," says Byczynski. "We need electricians, control engineers and a lot of it is our labour force. We'll be increasing Unifor Local 200 union employees."
This government grant will help Nemak to produce an additional 2,000 castings per day. "The investment definitely helps our business case," says Byczynski. "It makes competitive, it makes us more competitive to do business within the market and it's really extremely helpful to our business case to export this."
Ontario's finance minister announced Nemak is receiving a $1.5-million grant. Nemak is investing $15.7-million and creating 80 new jobs over three years.
