Adie Knox Keeps Ice

Adie Knox arena in Windsor will have ice for at least one more year.

Windsor Council has decided it's not worth putting stress on the city's minor hockey programs in order to save between $50,000 and $100,000, which makes President of the Windsor Minor Hockey Association Dean Lapierre pretty happy. "Our biggest fear was, any disruption at all (at another rink), and we're screwed when it comes to ice. It's not like you can just go anywhere when there's no ice out there."

As part of Monday night's motion during budget deliberations, administration was also asked to assist the Border City Brawlers roller derby team in finding a permanent place to play.

The organization was hoping to use the pad at Adie Knox had the ice not been approved.
