Windsor's mayor wants to see internet voting as an option for the city's next municipal election.
Even though it's very early in the term, Drew Dilkens is making it a priority to change what was a very poor voter turnout in October.
However, with hiccups in Tecumseh, Leamington and Kingsville's online elections, he isn't ready to go completely electronic, keeping ballot boxes throughout Windsor. "I'm saying we need to start the introduction of the technology. I think the majority of people are already comfortable with technology and would feel very comfortable in voting through the internet," explains Dilkens.
Just 37% of eligable voters cast a ballot in Windsor's 2014 municipal race.
The initiation of online voting in the city will be debated at a future council meeting.
