UPDATE: More Flu Cases, Visitor Restrictions

The number of confirmed flu cases has doubled to four at Hotel-Dieu Grace Health care Friday.

The number of suspected flu cases has dropped to eight from 13. As a result, new visitor restrictions are in place at the Emara Building.

As of 3pm Friday, visiting hours are from 8am to 8pm and no children under 14 are permitted. Visitors will be required to wear a mask and anyone showing flu symptoms won't be allowed to enter. There are some exceptions in the palliative unit.

Visitor restrictions are being put in place at Windsor Regional Hospital as healthcare workers try to protect against the flu. Windsor regional says there are no confirmed cases of the flu at the hospital.

However, more patients are being admitted to other campuses either with the flu or highly suspected of having the flu and increasing the risk of spreading the virus as the hospital can't discharge patients to outbreak hospitals or long-term care centres without extra beds.

Restrictions at the hospital will limit two visitors for each patient's entire stay, except for Paediatrics. Surgical masks will also be required and visitors under 14 years old aren't allowed into the hospital.

Restrictions will be increased should conditions get worse.
