Moncur Running For NDP Nomination

Essex County native and Afghan war vet Bruce Moncur has been given the go ahead to run for the Federal NDP nomination in Windsor-Tecumseh.

The 31-year-old says he's been vetted by the party and is officially confirmed as someone who can seek the nomination. Moncur got the call just days before Christmas and says he's humbled by the honour.

"It was honestly one of the greatest phone calls I ever got," says Moncur. "And it really, really helped in the holiday season with how stressful and how things can be, it was something that I will never forget." Moncur is the first candidate approved to run for the nomination and expects a tough race with many other interested parties awaiting approval. He expects the nomination meeting to be held in March.

Current MP Joe Comartin is retiring come this year's Federal Election.
