Amherstburg Reviewing, Posting Policies Online

Following up on a campaign promise to improve transparency at town hall, Amherstburg's new mayor says all town policies and procedural bylaws are under review.
Amherstburg's website says there will be a special meeting in January to discuss possible changes to its policies in a wide range of town operations.

Mayor Aldo DiCarlo expects some of those meetings to be lengthy, so he says the work has been divided up, and there could be more meetings scheduled. "We anticipate some more healthy debate."

Many town policies are already online. They'll be updated.

He also says it may take more time to post the town's finances. "As far as the financials go, we'll have a better picture in January," he says. "The residents can now start going to our website and hopefully find the information that they were requesting before that they, for whatever reason, weren't getting."
