Windsor Reserve To Remain Strong

As more tax appeals are set to come down the pipe, the City of Windsor believes its reserve will hold up.

The $12.8-million appeals reserve took a $5.7-million hit recently, as the municipality shelled out its portion of an appeal from Chrysler.

City Treasurer Onorio Colucci says there could be hundreds more on the way. "Chrysler is obviously the largest one, and gets a lot of media play, but there are appeals, both residential, commercial and industrial, ongoing at any given time."

Colucci says one of the biggest still to come will be from Windsor's Ford plant. He doesn't know how much that will be yet.

The treasurer explains that the city puts $3.5-million back into the appeals reserve each year, and with $7.1-million left after the Chrysler appeal, he thinks Windsor should be able to withstand whatever comes its way.
