Delayed But On Budget

Kingsville CAO Dan DiGiovanni says staff is all moved into their newly renovated $1.9-million town hall.

"After 15 months of trailer life, the mayor and I are finally in our office," says DiGiovanni, noting the project was delayed three months because of poor working conditions over the last winter. "Being under one roof, face-to-face meetings, you can't beat that. It does create efficiences and I hope that will pay off in the long run."

DiGiovanni says the delay didn't put the project over budget. In fact, he says, a few extras were added.

"A back-up generator. It was very expensive, but we were able to fit it in under the $1.9-million [budget] because we received a favourable tender," says DiGiovanni. "We had a budget. What we have found is that to date, we're right on target."

The project isn't completely finished just yet however, as the parking lot needs to be paved which is expected to be done in the spring.
