About 50 social services clients in Windsor may have to wait to get their Ontario Works cheques because of a glitchy computer software program.
The program, which has been in the works for the past four years, was implemented November 12 and since then, it's caused problems in municipal social service departments across the province. In some cases, it resulted in cheques for the incorrect amount.
Windsor's Executive Director of Employment and Social Services Bruno Ierullo says affected clients should get a call. "What we'll have to do is get the case workers to notify them if they haven't done that already," he says. "If they haven't been notified, than we certainly would encourage them to contact their case worker."
Ierullo says staff have been in touch with the province on an almost daily basis since the program's implementation. He hopes the bugs are worked out soon.
