Kingsville's Suggestions For Hwy. 3

The Town of Kingsville has some suggestions for the Ministry of Transportation as it moves ahead with the latest improvements along Hwy. 3.

Following a recent public meeting outlining planned improvements in Kingsville, town officials are sending the ministry a list of recommendations including a left-hand turning lane at Division Rd.

Mayor Nelson Santos says it would make the road safer. "We believe highway traffic is meant to be kept flowing," he says. "Currently any vehicles making left-hand turns are actually stopping the traffic behind them from being able to proceed."

Town officials also want the Ministry to include a parking lot for car-poolers. Right now, commuters park on the side of the two-lane highway. Nelson says the arrangement has worked well for decades, but there are no current plans to include a parking space when the highway is expanded to four lanes.

Construction on the highway is expected to start in the spring and continue into the late fall.
