Beer Festival Loss Isn't Discouraging

Despite the loss of over $15,000, LaSalle town council is pleased with the first ever LaSalle Craft Beer Festival.

It cost more than $120,000 to stage last month's event at the Vollmer Recreation Complex, and it made just over $105,000.

Mayor Ken Antaya admits there were probably some growing pains, but says many of those expenditures were one-time expenses. "Sure, we would have liked to have at least broken even," he says. "It certainly encourages our festivals committee to take a look at it a little different way and making sure that where did we lose money and how did we lose money. Let's see if we can eliminate those or refine those so that at least we get to a break-even proposition."

Antaya says festival goers were well behaved, and police didn't record any incidents.
