Windsor and Essex County are remembering those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for Canada.
Before this morning’s Remembrance Day ceremony at Windsor’s cenotaph, a plaque and wreath were laid at St. Joseph’s High School in memory of Corporal Andrew Grenon.
The Windsor-native died in Afghanistan six years ago, and his mother Theresa Charbonneau says this morning’s event at the school was beautiful. “I can’t begin to tell you the emotions that are going through me right now. I am overwhelmed.”
Meanwhile, an estimated 2,000 people packed the grounds around the cenotaph in downtown Windsor to hear canons fire and trumpets blare. Co-Chair Mike Beale says recent tragedies in Quebec and Ottawa definitely played a part in such a large turnout.
