Coats For Kids Returns For Season

The annual Coats for Kids campaign has kicked off in Windsor-Essex, marking its 29th year helping those in need.

As of this past Saturday, members of the community who are without winter clothing can visit one of many locations across Windsor-Essex to receive coats, hats, scarves and gloves. All of the winter clothing has been generously donated by the Windsor-Essex community.

Campaign Chairman Russ Anderson says this year the community has donated around 6,000 coats to the program, which becomes even more essential to the community during harsh winters.

“We’ve heard cases of children coming to school with just a sweater or just a shirt,” he says. “So this is just one avenue where we can try and help out the community by recycling coats and giving back.

Those in Windsor-Essex who are in need of winter clothing can still call the Unemployed Help Centre in Windsor for their closest pick up location. The help centre can be reached at (519) 944-4900.
