New CEO At Windsor Public Library

Kitty Pope describes her first day on the job as CEO of Windsor Public Library as a homecoming.

Pope has over four decades of experience at libraries, most recently in Guelph, but with her mother and brother still living in Windsor, she says she returned to the city of her childhood often. “So when the opportunity came up to come home, I thought oh, you know this is the time to do it, so I applied.”

Pope replaces interim CEO Chris Woodrow, who stepped in after Barry Holmes left amid allegations he ran up $67,000 on a corporate credit card. She started her new position Monday.

Asked what her top priorities are, Pope answered keeping up with technology and training staff to help clients who want to access it, and the incoming city council. “Budget is always an issue for any library in Canada.”

Pope also says she hopes to renovate, and possibly replace some of the library systems aging facilities.
