Leaving The County In A Good Place

Lakeshore Mayor Tom Bain at the Mayors Breakfast 2014.

Essex County Warden Tom Bain believes the current council has left the county in a good place financially.

He says having no debt means important infrastructure improvements can go ahead. “Road repairs and bridges,” he says. “Those are things that are always on the agenda and near the top.”

Bain who finishes his term as warden when the new council takes over thinks some issues will continue to challenge the county, including county-wide transit and ambulance off-loading. “Those ambulances have to sit so long in emergency,” says Bain. “We have a temporary solution in that there are nurses left at the hospital in the emergency ward to help out and try to free us, but it’s still a problem.”

He also wants to make sure the county warden’s good relationship with the mayor of Windsor continues.
