Lower Turnout At Advance Polls

Windsor’s manager of records and elections warns against making any predictions based on turnout at the city’s advanced polls.
Chuck Scarpelli says a total of 6,782 voters cast ballots in six advanced polls which wrapped up Saturday at the WFCU Centre. The highest turnout was at Devonshire Mall Saturday, October 11 with 1,525 ballots cast. That’s down from the total in 2010 when over 8,000 people voted in advanced polls.
Scarpelli says there could be a couple reasons why turnout was lower this time. “A lot of it depends on who came out to the advance poll and also, whether they’ve made up their minds or not,” says Scarpelli. “I know there were debates going on and maybe people want to see more of that in order to make up their final decision.”
Voter turnout in the 2010 municipal election was just over 46%.
Election Day is October 27.
