As part of his Economic Diversification Policy, Windsor mayoral candidate Drew Dilkens is promising to establish a city-wide retail development corporation to fill empty storefronts.

In his vision, the Retail Development Corporation would be responsible for collecting marketplace data and selling the strengths of the various commercial areas in the city.

Dilkens says this is about helping small business establish themselves. “The RDC will be focused on a goal of leveraging the strength of our commercial areas and be able to seek out new opportunities for new growth while working with our partners to deliver a range of economic services for the benefit of retailers in our community.”

Dilkens says he sees the corporation working with the BIAs and the Windsor Essex Economic Development Corporation so there is no duplication of services.
